What is AEP?

We are a Guatemalan non-profit organization that has provided development opportunities with dignity to children at risk of dropping out of school and families at risk of migration since 2015.

Through our programs we create a sense of community that inspires young people to stay in school and work towards a brighter future in Guatemala without having to migrate.

Education

In 2018, we started providing school supplies and meals to remove the primary obstacles to education for families in our communities.
By providing for these needs, children have improved nutrition and can study without feeling the guilt that they are not working to provide for their families.

Both models are holistic, and we recognize that all families benefit from support – both families working to regain custody of their children, and families working to guarantee their children’s well-being and success at home.

Environmental protection and education

The AEP community development center is in Sololá department and surrounded by a forest that was at risk of being cut down for firewood. We have reforested the land and prevented any more trees from being cut down.

Medical Coverage

The limited and low-quality health care coverage available in the region led to many families not trusting doctors and suffering from illness and disease that could be easily treated, but instead often becomes life altering or life threatening.

At AEP we provide readily available high-quality medical care including free doctor’s visits for sponsored families, free medicine, access to specialists, and continued follow-up.
